I’m so excited about my event booth at Paws in the Park this weekend, mainly because it’s my FIRST event booth EVER! So much preparation has been going into all the details, and now I finally feel confident and ready to show off my goods. Saving the BEST for last, the final to-do on my Event Booth Check-List was the goodie bags. I love getting crafty, so coming up with the idea for these was just plain fun. To show my appreciation to those who sign up to receive my monthly eNewsletter, I’m giving one of these cute, little goodie bags, that includes a complimentary magnet for them and three little treats for their furbaby. But, there is a catch…ONLY the first 25 people who sign up will get one. Now, I’d LOVE to give EVERYONE a goodie bag, but realistically, I don’t think I could handle making that many. Besides looking cute, I think my favorite thing about these goodies are the fact that the dog treats are dental, which help fight tartar, which makes for a beautiful smile, which makes for a purrfect portrait

And, to show my appreciation to those who follow my blog, I’ve included a helpful step-by-step (with photos!) tutorial on how to make them.

Spring is here! The flowers are blooming, the birds are chirping and it’s time for me to “spring clean” my office (but we don’t need to discuss THAT). There’s a lot of changes when Spring comes, but I think the thing I love most about Spring is the flowers. Particularly, my absolute FAVORITE, the Calla Lily. I love them so much, my husband even designed my wedding ring to look like one! My front yard is FULL of them right now, so every time I walk in or out the door, I smile :) Not only is there beauty springing from the Earth, but animals are out and about as well. Creatures like fish, birds, bats, and butterflies have an innate biological clock necessary for survival. There’s so much to enjoy this time of year, so use your senses and get the most out of the season. HAPPY SPRING!
Offering High and Low Resolution CDs is nothing new for Skyy Blue, but this particular CD design is, and I couldn’t love it more! Purrfect for those of you who, like me, love a splash of color in your life, this design is cute, clean and colorful. With digital files in such high demand nowadays, I make it a point to provide my digi-savy clients with beautiful CDs that will last a lifetime. The Low Resolution CDs include all of your images as low resolution (72dpi), watermarked files…perfect for sharing via email and social media sites. High Resolution CDs include the Low Res images, along with High Res (300dpi), non-watermarked files, with granted printing rights. And now, EVERY package offered includes some sort of digital file CD. Because we offer clients what they want most!

“Dogs In Our Lives” by Paul Fersen, Orvis Associate
We aren’t house-proud.
If we were, we wouldn’t abide the scratches on the door-frame, the holes in the screen, the darkened shine of worn spots on the chair.
We would wince at the mottled carpet and fret at the hair clinging to our clothes.
We don’t.
If anything, we lovers of dogs are a tolerant lot, finding greater value in the unabashed affection of our friend than immaculate sofas.
Shoes can be replaced, but heroic retrievers are timeless.
Without dogs, our houses are cold recepticles for things.
Dogs make a fire warmer with their curled presence.
They wake us, greet us, protect us, and ultimately carve a place in our hearts and our history.
On reflection, our lives are often referenced in parts defined by the all-too-short lives of our dogs.

I look forward to seeing the candidates.

- Keeshond
- Wirehaired Pointing Griffon

Mark your calendars…Paws in the Park is less than 2 weeks away! Why am I sooo excited about this event? So many reasons… Paws in the Park is not only the Escondido Humane Society’s BIGGEST annual fundraising event, but also the LARGEST dog walk in North San Diego County! Funds raised at the event help EHS care for 5,000 animals each year and protect 150,000 more in our communities. Participants not only help raise funds, they have fun doing it! After the walk around the park, there’s plenty more festivities to enjoy, such as shopping, entertainment, giveaways, games, contests, fashion show, education and more! As an added bonus, I’ll not only be photographing the entire event, but I’ll also have a booth with product samples and session info, so be sure to check it out! And, if you’re one of the first 25 people to sign up for my eNewsletter, you’ll receive a FREE gift! So, do yourself and your pet a favor, and register for Paws in the Park today. See you there!

This month, Dog Fancy Magazine was looking for a White West Highland Terrier to grace the cover of their July 2012 issue. I was so excited to hear this because I knew the perfect model! Meet Cayleigh…a talented, obedient, beautiful little Westie who lives in Pasadena with her mom and two fur-siblings. Although it was tough to get a smile out of her, she was a great model to work with, and provided some humorous outtakes as well. These submissions don’t guarantee the images will be used, so I’ve got my fingers crossed.
We’re 3 months into the year, and it couldn’t be more appropriate that 3 is my lucky number because right now I feel extremely lucky! I mean, what’s not to feel lucky about? I’m healthy and happy living just 3 blocks from the beach with my wonderful husband and 3 beautiful dogs. My 2012 goals are coming along quite nicely. My good karma has been paying off BIG time. And I got to eat cookies while taking my self-portrait for this month’s Snapshot.

I’m proud to announce that my work is currently being displayed on the HUGE screen at Lexus of Escondido. I’m also a little embarrassed about this because it’s taken me nearly 2 months to announce it! They’ve been running on the screen since December, but only at certain hours of certain days, and it seemed like every time I was in Escondido, it was the wrong time. But today I FINALLY made it! My friends at the Escondido Humane Society were given the opportunity to place two ads on the screen, so they asked me to create the images. The first is a compilation of several individual animals from the shelter, representing all the pets the humane society has to offer. The second is Bogey, this year’s Spokespet for Paws in the Park (which, by the way, I’ll be shooting AND I’ll have a booth available to check out some of my products and other goodies). So, next time you find yourself driving on I-15 Mon-Fri, look West near the Auto Park Way exit, and you may just see my work!
